Texas LPC Associate Supervision

Clinical Supervision That Prepares You for More Than Licensure.

Becoming a licensed professional counselor is about more than completing supervised hours. It's about developing the clinical judgment, ethical foundation, and professional confidence to serve clients effectively throughout your career.

As a Texas LPC Supervisor, clinician, and graduate professor, I bring decades of clinical, educational, and leadership experience to the supervision relationship. My approach combines thoughtful case consultation, practical skill development, and conversations about the realities of building a sustainable career in counseling.

Supervision should help you become a stronger clinician, a more confident decision-maker, and an intentional professional.

My Supervision Philosophy

Developing Clinicians. Strengthening Confidence.

Good supervision creates room for questions, honest reflection, and professional growth. My goal is to help associates move beyond knowing what they learned in graduate school to understanding how to apply that knowledge thoughtfully and responsibly in clinical practice.

01

Clinical Competence

Strong clinical skills develop through practice, consultation, and a willingness to examine how we make decisions.

We focus on assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, documentation, and therapeutic interventions that support meaningful client progress.

02

Ethical Judgment

Ethical practice requires more than memorizing rules. It requires sound judgment, awareness of professional responsibilities, and the ability to recognize complex situations before they become larger problems.

We examine boundaries, confidentiality, professional standards, consultation, and ethical decision-making in everyday clinical work.

03

Professional Development

Your development as a counselor includes how you navigate the profession, communicate with colleagues, manage responsibilities, and plan for the future.

We discuss professional identity, career opportunities, workplace challenges, and the foundations of building a sustainable practice.

Beyond the Supervision Hour

The Goal Isn't Just to Finish Your Hours. It's to Be Ready for What Comes Next.

I want associates to feel comfortable asking questions, acknowledging uncertainty, and receiving constructive feedback. Those conversations are an important part of becoming a competent, thoughtful clinician.

Supervision is both a learning relationship and a professional responsibility. I approach it with the expectation that we are preparing you to practice independently with skill, integrity, and confidence.

The Supervision Experience

What You Can Expect When We Work Together.

Supervision is an opportunity to connect what you've learned academically with the decisions you make in clinical practice. Our work is structured to support your development while encouraging thoughtful reflection, accountability, and professional growth.

Individual Supervision

Dedicated time to discuss your clinical experiences, explore questions, receive individualized feedback, and identify areas for continued growth. Individual sessions allow us to focus on your specific needs and professional development.

Group Supervision

Collaborative discussions with fellow LPC Associates provide opportunities to examine clinical perspectives, discuss professional challenges, and learn from shared experiences while maintaining client confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.

Clinical Case Consultation

We examine assessment findings, treatment goals, therapeutic approaches, documentation, and ethical considerations. The focus is not simply on what happened during a session, but why you made particular clinical decisions and how to strengthen your judgment.

Professional Resources & Development

Associates have access to a private resource center with supervision information, clinical reference materials, training resources, ethics information, scheduling updates, and professional development opportunities.

A Shared Responsibility

What I Expect From My Associates.

I expect associates to arrive prepared, participate actively, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate openly about clinical questions and concerns. Professional growth requires both initiative and a willingness to receive feedback.

I also believe supervision should be a space where you can acknowledge what you don't know. Asking questions is part of responsible practice. The expectation is not perfection, but consistent learning, sound judgment, and accountability.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience That Extends Beyond the Counseling Room.

Effective supervision benefits from a broad understanding of clinical practice, education, organizational leadership, and the counseling profession. My experience across these areas informs how I support associates as they prepare for independent licensure and long-term professional growth.

Clinical Practice

Licensed as a Professional Counselor in Texas since 1998, I bring more than three decades of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, families, and diverse populations. This experience informs my approach to assessment, treatment planning, clinical decision-making, and professional responsibility.

Counselor Education

As a graduate professor at Amberton University, I teach courses that support the academic and professional development of future counselors. My teaching experience strengthens the connection between counseling theory, research, clinical application, and professional practice.

Clinical Leadership

As Director of the Mental Health & Wellness Clinic at Paul Quinn College, I work at the intersection of mental health, student development, institutional leadership, and service delivery. This perspective informs conversations about collaboration, systems of care, and the professional responsibilities of counselors.

Private Practice & Entrepreneurship

As Founder and CEO of Positive Influences, established in 2001, I understand the operational and professional demands of developing counseling services. I bring that perspective into supervision discussions about career planning, practice management, professional boundaries, and sustainable growth.

My Perspective

Clinical Skill Matters. So Does Knowing How to Navigate the Profession.

The transition from graduate student to independent clinician comes with decisions that extend well beyond the therapy session. Associates need guidance in clinical judgment, professional relationships, documentation, ethics, and career direction.

My role is to help you connect those pieces so that your growth is intentional, your decisions are informed, and your professional foundation is strong.
